Medical coding is the transformation of narrative descriptions of diseases, injuries, and healthcare procedures into numeric or alphanumeric designations (code numbers). Topics include assignment and identification of the information using current industry standards. Briefly covers medical terminology and anatomy. Prerequisite: HES 170 and HES 190. Four lecture.
